Manufacturing Month in Connecticut

October 05, 2012

by Bonnie Del Conte

October is Manufacturing Month in the state of Connecticut – such a great feeling to have support for our local industry, giving merit to the importance of the role which it plays in our state’s economy.  With so many activities scheduled – open houses at local manufacturers and technical schools, the Dream It. Do It. Manufacturing Mania events for students and families, the CBIA Manufacturing Forum, and our own seminar on smart business growth – the month is filled with opportunities for manufacturers to really shine!

Manufacturing Month would not have come about without the strong work by a number of organizations across the state – CBIA, CCAT, NHMA, SMA, CTC, CI and MAC – to name a few.  They say good things come to those who wait – certainly the manufacturing sector has learned how to be patient – and now the focus is on this great industry, one that provides good jobs, good wages, good benefits and the opportunity for young people to build a career while fortifying the infrastructure of our state.

For Manufacturing Month, CONNSTEP has published a special issue of our magazine, The CONNSTEP advantage, to celebrate the work of our Connecticut manufacturers, touching on topics including the need for a skilled workforce, the need for collaboration, and our current and future states as an industry.  The issue also features a company profile on Metallurgical Processing, Inc. of New Britain, an industrial tourism map and information on the new Made in CT Program recently launched to showcase the innovative products and services of the Connecticut manufacturing industry.

I’d like to thank the organizations who supported the special issue – CBIA, CCAT, Connecticut Innovations, MAC, NESMA, NHMA, SMA and the UCONN School of Business – read the digital profiles for each of these organizations and learn more about how they support local industry.

Enjoy Manufacturing Month – we hope this is the first annual!
