About

Altek Electronics is nestled at the foot of the Berkshire Mountains in Torrington, CT.  A privately held family business, Altek has been serving the electronic assembly needs of equipment manufacturers since 1972.

We use LEAN manufacturing practices and Six Sigma principles to build high quality products delivered on time.  Altek manufactures printed circuit board assemblies, chassis and control panels used in high cost capital equipment such as elevators, mammography machines, fabric cutters, fan controls, gas detection systems, and many other products.  Altek is registered with the Department of Defense for the ITAR controlled work that we do for the defense industry.

Training is the foundation of Altek’s capabilities.  We have a Six Sigma Master Black Belt on staff as well as 9 certified Green Belts and 17 Yellow Belts.  We certify our soldering operators to IPC-610 and the

J-STD.  Our cable and harness operators are certified to IPC-620.

As evidence of our commitment to quality, Altek is certified to AS9100C, which includes ISO 9001:2008.  We have vigorous ESD control procedures in place, including static dissipative flooring, the use of hand and foot straps and anti-static smocks.  While we have certified inspectors at every stage of operation, every operator is considered an inspector on the line.

Altek is an active member of industry trade associations IPC and SMTA.  These organizations provide important technical references, information on current research in our field, and training opportunities for our staff members.

Altek leases 60,000 square feet in a one story manufacturing facility housing three state-of-the-art Samsung surface mount lines including automated optical inspection stations.  We also have through-hole capability using semi-automated pick and place equipment, four wave soldering machines and two selective soldering machines.  Our PVA6000 Coating and Dispensing Machine allow us to accurately and consistently perform conformal coating operations on a variety of mixed technology boards.  Two Teradyne LH Test Stations support in-circuit testing capabilities.

Emphasis on quality, expertise, on-time delivery, cost control through LEAN and capital investment in state-of-the-art assembly equipment are key aspects to Altek’s success.
