What can CONNSTEP do for you?
Whether implementing the continuous improvement process or advising on management strategies, CONNSTEP helps your business compete and grow profitably. Our industry experts are located across Connecticut to help you become a world-class organization.
CONNSTEP operates as a fee-for-service 501(c)(3) non-profit and is one of 59 affiliate organizations connected to the national network of Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) organizations.
CONNSTEP is supported by the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) allowing clients’ access to services often otherwise only accessible to larger organizations. This investment partnership allows CONNSTEP to coordinate broader initiatives, track impacts of services provided and form long-term strategies on behalf of clients.
CONNSTEP NIST/MEP Network Affiliation
As Connecticut’s NIST/MEP affiliate, we have access to industry-wide benchmarks and proven, results-based tools.
The MEP network is funded through the US Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and assists small and midsize manufacturing companies by providing products and services designed to help them succeed. CONNSTEP has successfully leveraged this federal support for more than fourteen years by administering the cooperative agreement that provides for the MEP center in Connecticut.
MEP’s nationwide network of resources transforms manufacturers to compete globally, supports greater supply chain integration and provides access to advanced technology for improved productivity.
CONNSTEP clients are surveyed by an independent third party. Within six months after completion of projects, results are gathered and measured against acceptable thresholds and reported to stakeholders. In the last two years alone, our Connecticut program has reported the following metrics:
- 467 companies received critical business assistance through CONNSTEP;
- Companies reported a positive economic impact of $591 million to their bottom line in increased and retained sales, $53 million in reduced production costs and employee utilization;
- Companies also invested $112 million in new technology; and
- More than 2,645 jobs have been created and retained.
