PENN PRODUCTS IS THE MADE IN CT MANUFACTURER OF THE WEEK
May 01, 2013
(Rocky Hill, Connecticut) – CONNSTEP announced today Penn Products is the featured Made in CT manufacturer of the week. Located in Portland, Penn Products is a full-service, family owned custom injection molder and manufacturer of plastics cases and other specialty products, serving clients in a broad range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, consumer, industrial and medical.
Penn Products began in 1977 when Ray Pennoyer Jr., former engineer for Texas Instruments and Western Electric, purchased Duraplastics of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Under his leadership – and that of his son Ray Pennoyer III – Penn Plastics has undergone a dramatic expansion in response to the needs of its customers and became an industry leader in the area of plastic boxes for packaging and first aid.
Their patented living hinge boxes offer customizable packaging solutions across multiple industries. Manufactured using the polymer polypropylene, the “Living Hinge” (sometimes called “integral hinge”) takes advantage of the special characteristics of this polymer. A flexible hinge of plastic is molded as one piece with the rest of the case, connecting the sturdy top and bottom sections. The result is a hinge with excellent flexibility and superb flex life.
The Made in CT Program (www.made-in-ct.com) is a dedicated feature on the CONNSTEP website, creating a directory for the state’s manufacturers to showcase products and services. Eligible companies can register to receive a complimentary company profile page to share company history, products/services and company news. The goal of the program is to showcase the products made in the Nutmeg State and highlight the contributions of the manufacturing community to the public. Additionally, the program provides social media forums for manufacturers to connect with one another and discuss industry issues.
“CONNSTEP is excited to provide an opportunity for our manufacturers to benefit from greater exposure and to be recognized for the important impact they make on the Connecticut community, ” Bonnie Del Conte, president and CEO of CONNSTEP, “The Made in CT Program offers local supply chain connections, sector peer networking and greater visibility to legislators and other economic stakeholders.”
