CT MEP CONNSTEP and MassMEP Collaborate on Learn to Earn Initiative

(Hartford, CT, August 22, 2022) – CONNSTEP, the Connecticut Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center and MassMEP, celebrate the launch of the Learn to Earn Initiative in both states.

The two MEP centers are collaborating with New England Business Associates (NEBA), who received a Kessler Foundation Signature Employment Grant that will fund the project for two years. The initiative is intended to introduce, train, and place four cohorts of employment candidates with disabilities for entry-level manufacturing positions.

Six Connecticut students will apply classroom instruction during a field trip visit to Carey Manufacturing in Cromwell on August 25 and will receive their Learn to Earn diplomas on September 15 at MakerSpaceCT. Students will also receive certificates for Lean Training and basic manufacturing skills in metrology, shop math, blueprint reading, assembly, and will be OSHA 10 certified.
