Owners Have No Clear Strategy to Exit Their Businesses

The IBBA’s and M&A Source’s Q1 2019 Market Pulse Report, derived from surveying 292 M&A Advisors and business brokers, reveals that:

  • on average, advisors decline about 70% of the business opportunities that come their way because the business is considered “non-saleable”
  • even when advisors do accept a business engagement, nearly half of those engagements will terminate before a successful closing
