Google Online Marketing Challenge
The American Marketing Association - Connecticut Chapter is on the look-out for companies interested in participating in the 2010 Google Online Marketing Challenge.
Developed by professors in collaboration with Google, the Challenge is a great opportunity for students to gain practical, real world online marketing experience. Students also get the excitement of competing on a global level - with the winning team receiving a trip to Googleplex in Mountain View, California.
How does it work?
Student teams from the University of New Haven receive US$200
of free online advertising with Google AdWords and then work with
local businesses to devise effective online marketing campaigns.
Teams outline a strategy, run a campaign, assess their results and
provide the business with recommendations to further develop their
online marketing. Teams submit their reports and are judged by a
panel of independent academics from all over the world.

What do you need to do?
If you agree to participate, you should work out a convenient
time to meet with your student team to explain what your business
does and what you want to achieve from online marketing. Ideally,
you will take an active interest in the campaign, such as providing
feedback on the proposed campaign strategy, interim campaign
results and campaign changes. The students do all the work but the
more you help them, the more you have to gain through a successful
campaign.
You will also be invited to the Google AMA-CT event at the University of New Haven on March 24, 2010, where students will present their campaigns.
What happens after the campaign ends?
Once the campaign is over you are under no obligation to
continue with AdWords. However, if you believe Google AdWords is
right for your business, please talk to your students about how you
can continue with their online marketing recommendations.
Who is the perfect business candidate?
To effectively work with students from the University of New
Haven, a local business is best.
Your company must have at least a basic
website;
Your company needs to have target
markets in the B2B or B2C arena, and can include international
markets;
Your company should have no more than
100 employees; and
Your business should not be currently
using Google AdWords and have had no active account for last
six months.
To participate, please send an email, by February 7, 2010, which includes your contact information and website address, to:
