(Statewide) - CONNSTEP, the state's leading resource for Lean
and green solutions, business growth services and quality
management systems, is the local affiliate and point of contact for
Connecticut companies interested in learning about or applying for
the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence.
With CONNSTEP's proven expertise in the training and
implementation of Lean Solutions since 1994, the prize
administrator of the Shingo Prize in the Northeast United States,
the Greater Boston Manufacturing Partnership (GBMP), signed an
agreement making CONNSTEP the sole Connecticut affiliate of the
Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence.
The Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence is named for
Japanese industrial engineer Shigeo Shingo who distinguished
himself as one of the world's leading experts in improving
manufacturing processes. Dr. Shingo helped create and write about
the Toyota Production System, the foundation for Lean
Manufacturing. The Shingo Prize recognizes business excellence in
the United States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom. It was
established to create increased awareness, development and
implementation of Lean principles and techniques. The goal of the
Prize is to make businesses more competitive in the global
marketplace, illustrating how world-class results can be achieved
through the implementation of Lean in core business processes.
