Six Sigma

Reduce Process Variations

Six Sigma eliminates the variation that creates waste. It is a customer-focused, data-driven decision making tool grounded in fact and statistics. Six Sigma is applicable in any industry where variations in process results contribute to excess costs, wastes or increases in lead time. Both comprehensive and flexible, Six Sigma can help your company implement, maximize and sustain process improvements. Six Sigma can be used to improve production or administrative processes.

Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Training

CONNSTEP’s Six Sigma program is a team and project-based program focused on waste generated by process and systemic variation. CONNSTEP’s experts guide students through their Six Sigma implementation using targeted improvement projects and applying the proven DMAIC (Defining, Measuring, Analyzing, Improving and Controlling) approach.

We provide an ASQ compliant Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Program. Past participants in our Six Sigma Green Belt Training have achieved an average measurable annual savings from projects completed of $100,000.

Benefits of a Six Sigma Green Belt

  • Green Belts improve product quality, yielding greater market share
  • Green Belts elevate product profitability
  • Green Belts generally save the company much more than their annual salary

Class Work Plus Project Mentoring

The Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is earned by up to 12 individuals – typically from the same company. Requirements of this comprehensive training program consist of 32 hours of classroom work and 32 hours of project mentoring. Four training sessions alternate with four project mentoring sessions over the course of 8 weeks, one day per week.

Training

The 4 training sessions follow the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) template adopted in the 1990’s by General Electric Corp. This structured template was designed to uncover the root cause of product and process variance, discover how to remove the variance, and prevent its return. Each training session delves into the intricacies of the DMAIC template with examples and implementation tools for better understanding.

Project Mentoring

The 4 days of project mentoring align the training materials with a selected project, preferably completed by a team of 3 – 4 people. The goal is for selected projects to deliver measurable benefits with a goal of returning in dollars at least 10 times the cost of the training.

Each team presents their respective projects to the stakeholders of their company on the last day. After successful completion of their project and presentation, each participant is awarded a Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate.

A Practical Approach to Six Sigma Training

Earlier Six Sigma Green Belt programs placed an inordinate emphasis on the mathematics and statistical science associated with the study of variance. Understanding the mathematics is less useful than understanding where to apply the tools and how to interpret the results. CONNSTEP’s Six Sigma Green Belt curriculum:

  • focuses on the practical application of the tools
  • explains the mathematics behind the tools
  • gives charts and templates of complex computation results

Combining this practical approach with the “hands-on” project mentoring, participants yield significant positive impact after certification. They know how to apply the knowledge from the classroom to the workplace.
