This Kanban trigger board indicates the size of the inventory being held for various planned items, the order point (at which production is triggered) and the order quantity (the amount of product being requested).
The board gives you a visual status of required material and maintains an optimal level of inventory to ensure minimum costs and adequate supply for the customer (internal or external).
The green, yellow and red spots painted on the floor give a visual representation to the supplying department of when to start producing (green) and when to stop producing (red). This system is simple and visual, maintaining an optimum level of work in process.
